Omya uses a small fraction – approximately 10% – of its land holdings to support our quarry and mineral processing operations.  The remaining acreage contributes to the scenic landscape while supporting Vermont’s heritage, tourism, rural economy, and recreational lifestyles.

On August 15, 2005 Omya submitted an Interim Certification Application for its tailings management areas to the Solid Waste Program of Vermont Agency of Natural Resources (ANR), the issuing agency of the Certification. The Certification, which is valid for two years, requires compliance with Vermont Solid Waste Management Rules and is issued to a “person who does not qualify for a solid waste management certification under the statutory or regulatory requirements.” The application below contains information necessary for the certification of the tailings management areas, and is currently under review by ANR.
